A Message From Our Founder

Our 2016/17 Creative Empowerment Arts Contest is underway!
Since we started to creatively engage Long Island's students in this way over the past 3 years, we have awarded a total of $10,000 to contest winnners and runners up.  We invite students from all communities throughout the Long Island Area to participate.
Please note that all contestants will be offered an opportunity to participate in group leadership and entrepreneurship programs offered by businesses and organizations who partner with Your Time For Creative Empowerment, Inc.
This is our way of acknowledging the winner in all our youth!

With so much on my mind, I will do my best to restrict this message to a celebration of love and humanity.

On Saturday, July 9th, I was in the midst of people who took a leap of faith and made their way to Molloy College for Your Time For Creative Empowerment's Self-Empowering and Community Networking Soirée event. It was the 4th annual event for the non-profit I founded in August 2012!

I am so happy, grateful and feel so blessed, that I have adopted "THANKFUL" as one of my given names!

There was a strong presence of support, collaboration and love that penetrated the place. This was obvious when participants accommodated my "strange" warm-up activity request, when they expressed willingness to be of help with the organization's mission to lovingly, sensitively and effectively serve Long Island's youth and families through empowering methods, and through the manifestation of the unmistakable resolve of our youth participants to get the most out of what was laid out for them.

Our leaders of tomorrow asked intelligent questions, participated in activities with much zeal and poise, and those at the podium handled themselves with grace and professionalism. Parents and, yes, at least one grandparent, came to support their youth and to be a part of the intimate no-holds-barred event. Kudos to the parent who did not see why her children should not attend for fear of exhaustion resulting from a sweet sixteen party the night before. Thank You, to the young folks who understood the lesson their mother needed to teach about making smart choices and taking advantage of good opportunities...even when we are tired! The food was good, and our kind and giving volunteers, to the best of their abilities, did what they could to make the event a successful one. Our dynamic, caring and resourceful keynote presenters were just who "the doctor ordered"! What wonderful role models they were/are for our children!

My take away was that parents were not disappointed that they took time out on a Saturday to empower themselves and their children in this way. THANK YOU to everyone who contributed to the success of this workshop, and to all our well-wishers whom we will be sure to welcome with open arms when they one day decide to support our mission from a slightly closer vantage point. Until then, my time has come…for... Your Time For Creative Empowerment!
